History The Fu-Jen Catholic University library system was established by the time when the University moved to Hsinchuang in Taiwan in 1963. It consists of 4 libraries, which were established in the following order: the Kungpo Memorial Library (the humanities and literature library), the Fahy Memorial Library (the social science library), the Schutte Memorial Library (the rare book storage center), and the Cardinal Shan Library (the medical library). In keeping with the administration structure of the University, each library was independently operated and managed. In 2002, the four libraries were re-organized into one unified Fu Jen Catholic University library system, with the Fahy Memorial Library functioning as the main library. In addition to 1,000,000 volumes of book collections, 2,500 periodicals, the libraries also provides more than 1 million electronic information resources, including 704 online databases, 26,000 e-journals, and 1,200,000 e-books; also, the libraries participates in the Taiwan library consortia to provide readers with the interlibrary loan services. The library committee, comprised of insightful and diligent professors from the 11 FJU colleges, assists the libraries’ services with both expansion and development.
